This is what we've been doing for the last few months. This is my new station but it won't stay clean for long. We have ventilation that about pulls my hair out by the roots and great lighting. I won't have any excuses if my marbles aren't perfectly round now!

I took a class recently at Blue Moon Glassworks in Austin. The teacher was Trey Cornette and I had a blast. He is a wonderful teacher and I learned bunches. If you ever get a chance take a class from Trey - at Blue Moon of course!

These are two views of (imagine that!) a marble. This is the second marble I made - please excuse the bubbles. It is about one inch diameter. This marble is made of borosilicate glass (Pyrex), not the usual glass I use.

This beautiful necklace was made by a very talented friend (yes, you Brenda) using one of the hearts I made. The heart is about two inches long.

These marbles vary in size from 3/4 inches to a little over 1 inch diameter.

I put a couple of twisties inside this marble. It is about 1 1/4 inches diameter. The back is the purple that is in the twistie.

This is one of the paperweights Kate and I made with lots of Stephen Bishop's help. We can't wait to make more. This paperweight is about 1 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches diameter.

We went to a demo at Blue Moon Glassworks in Austin with Bronwen Heilman Saturday night. Bronwen does painting with enamels on glass then encorporates it into a bead or marble. She makes marble making look easy. You should see the marble I bought - it is beautiful. She is lovely in her Halloween tutu - and she didn't even set it on fire!

Kate and I took a glassblowing class from Stephen Bishop in Salado this week. We each made two paperweights and now we have the glassblowing bug. Stephen was teaching at Coyote Glass in Salado as part of Salado's Founder's Day celebration. In this picture, Stephen is making a fish. If you ever get a chance, take a class from Stephen - he is a great teacher.

I made these hearts on the first weekend in October. I'm having so much fun making hearts - thanks Lisa, for showing me how to make them. The deep purple one on the right is such a pretty color. I am so touched - a friend who received one of my hearts started a blog about her travels with her new heart. If you look at my favorites it is Life of a Heart. Bren is a wonderful friend and I am so glad she likes her new heart. I hope it helps her through some hard times.

These are a few of the marbles I made for a swap on Lampwork Etc. I made 10 marbles for the swap and should get 10 marbles back! I can't wait to see the other marbles. All these marbles are about 1 to 1 1/4 inch diameter.

These are two beads I made this week. They are both purple on ivory. I cooked the upper one to turn the ivory a darker tan color.

Mother's Day Marble

I took a marble-making class at Blue Moon Glassworks last month. Heather Trimlett came to Austin for a one-day marble class and a two-day button and bead class. I made this one today. It is about an inch in diameter. I am really having fun making marbles - but don't worry, I won't quit making beads!

This is one of the bead boxes I made out of a cigar box. Yes, I made all the beads also! I'm taking some of them to Titia's store today. I need to get some money back so I can get more glass to make more beads.:) Really though, I am quite the glass ho - you should see the stash I have. These kitties were made for a bead swap. I made eight cat beads and I will get eight cat beads back made by different artists from all over the world.

These three glass beads will also fit on pens. The top two have a black base with different accents. The upper right has purple glass streaks around it. The upper left bead has different oily blue lines. The lower right bead has an ivory and turquoise base with spots of oily green around it.

This is my version of Andrea Guarino's galaxy bead. This was so much fun to make. We used several different colors of glass, goldstone, fine silver wire and silver foil in this bead.

This is a dress form I altered for a fund raiser for Susan G. Komen. It will be auctioned off at Stamp Salado at the end of September. It has ribbon woven around the skirt and lampworked beads around the waist. It is approximately 14 inches tall.

I had a blast in Andrea's class! Here are some of the beads I made the first day. These hearts are made off the end of the mandrel using silver mesh and glass powders.

Check out Kate's fabulous blog from the link on my favorites. She has been doing some gorgeous artwork in paper arts, mixed media and glass fusing. She and I both need to get out and work with glass in the studio.

I recently finished Lisa Jo Hartman's shaping class at Blue Moon Glassworks in Austin, Texas. What a wonderful class! We learned shaping of various beads, making and placing stringer, working with large amounts of glass and encasing techniques. This is a "must-take class" for all beginning lampworkers. I can't wait for her next class at Blue Moon!
